We understand the importance of supporting locally-focused businesses that are deeply rooted in their communities. At Arnold Hearing Centres, we’re not just another business in the neighbourhood but an integral part of it.

Our Hear for the Holidays giveaway reflects our commitment to giving back and making a difference in the lives of those around us.

The holiday season is typically a time of joy and celebration, but it can be a challenging time for those with hearing loss. That’s why we urge everyone to pay special attention to their loved ones and community members experiencing hearing difficulties.

With roughly one in five people encountering hearing loss, showing our support and spreading some holiday cheer is crucial.

Without further ado, we’re thrilled to announce the five winners of our 2022 Hear for the Holidays giveaway, which includes high-quality AI hearing devices and ongoing audiological care from Arnold Hearing Centres.

It’s our hope that these devices will enhance the lives of these deserving individuals and bring them closer to their loved ones this holiday season.

Stephen Wells

Nominated by Megan:

This kind old soul has recently had his entire family move to Alberta, away from him. He was just diagnosed with Parkinson’s, although he has no doubt had the condition for some time now. He seems to be dealing with a slew of bad luck, and a working set of hearing aids could be life changing for him. He deserves them.”

June Rees

Nominated by daughter Susan who said:

“My mother has a very old hearing aid. I would love her to win. She is very kind, always hard working. Loving to everyone. She can’t hear a lot of conversations. Always has to replace batteries. She deserves to win a new hearing air. Thank you so very much. Merry Christmas to all. Hope she wins.”

June Rees - Hear for the Holidays - Guelph

Anne Welch

Nominated by her daughter Erica, who said:

“My mother has struggled with hearing loss for 30+ years. I often see her upset at feeling left out of conversations, and FaceTiming with the grandkids is always a struggle! I’d love to help make her lifelong wish of improved hearing come true!”

Bob Oaks

Nominated by granddaughter Maddie who wrote,

“My Poppie, Bob, has struggled with his hearing since he was young. For as long as I can remember, you always had to sit on Poppie’s good side to have a conversation with him. More recently, there is no more “good side”. My Poppie currently uses hearing aids but consistently has trouble with them and getting his providers to help him troubleshoot or get him started with enough information to successfully use them. His frustration with his current hearing aids lead him to not wear them, then frustrating my Nana because he can’t hear her. My Poppie is in his late 70’s and 10 years ago started his own business and still works as the owner/operator today. He is still very busy, but I know that his hearing can lead to challenges in many aspects of his life. After a challenging year for our family, we are looking forward to the holidays to spend time together and celebrate what we have to be grateful for. It would be very special to our entire family to help my Poppie enjoy this season and future seasons by getting him an effective and sustainable hearing solution.”

Bob Oaks - Hear for the Holidays - Waterloo

We were honoured to see the smiles on our winners’ faces as they received their new hearing aids.

Margaret is now equipped with hearing aids that adjust to her surroundings, Stephen won’t have to miss out on conversations anymore, June can enjoy holiday gatherings without missing a beat, Anne’s daughter can now Facetime her mom without repeating herself, and Bob can finally enjoy a frustration-free hearing experience.

A Huge Thank You to Starkey Canada and Bernafon Canada

A couple of businesses stepped up to support our winners this year.

These two incredible companies have gone above and beyond to support our Hear for the Holidays initiative. The prizes they’ve supplied will change the lives of our winners.

Starkey Canada is a hearing aid supplier based in Ontario that helped with the prizes for the Kitchener locations on Frederick Street and Greenbrook Drive, plus the Guelph, and Simcoe centres.

Bernafon Canada is part of a global hearing aid manufacturer that began in Sweden around 1964. They supported the prizes for the Arnold Hearing Centres in Waterloo.

A huge thank you to Starkey Canada and Bernafon Canada, for supporting our initiative and changing the lives of our winners. We’re grateful for their generosity and dedication to our community.
