Local businesses are generally owned by people who live in the community; they are more invested in the community and want to make it a better place for themselves and their neighbours.

We know how much our local businesses matter, and we truly would not live in such a great community without the mix we have, which is why we love being able to share them with you.

This month’s Love for Local shoutout is for The Crazy Canuck, a restaurant that struggled through two years of COVID restrictions but managed to stay open through all the ups and downs. They changed their business in whatever way was needed to provide for the community.

So Much to Choose From

The Crazy Canuck is a restaurant that serves sandwiches, burgers, poutines, and pizza. I’ve been going there for 3+ years, and there’s always something new to try.

I love how welcoming all the staff are all the time. Small or local businesses are more likely to go the extra mile for their customers, and the Crazy Canuck team does this well. The owners and their employees are generally very knowledgeable and invested in serving great food.

What’s on the Menu?

Honestly, there are lots of things to choose from on the menu, and it’s all so good and tasty.

My favourite is The Crazy Canuck poutine, which is apple pulled pork, bacon, two canucked ribs on real cheese curds, and gravy.

They only use authentic Quebec cheese curds, locally grown potatoes 5kms from the restaurant, and their own signature seasoning blend on every poutine they serve.

The Best Burger in Town is also a favourite, with cheese, bacon, and fixins that include jalapeno mayo.

As a Hearing Instrument Specialist, an average day consists of testing patients’ hearing, cleaning, and repairing hearing aids, as well as counselling patients on hearing loss and hearing health. She is also responsible for answering phones and doing her best to answer any questions or concerns their patients may have. Most importantly, she strives to make sure every patient leaves the clinic happy. At times, the role can be tough, requiring a lot of patience and hard work, but the family atmosphere makes it a positive and uplifting place to work. As a family-run business, they care deeply about their patients, regardless of the outcome.
