Shopping locally and supporting our peers is what makes living here so unique. We want to keep this vibe going for our kids and our kids’ kids.
We all work hard for our money, so spending it efficiently is at the top of our list. I would rather see my money going to a small business than a large corporation.
One of my favourite small businesses in town to visit is Korner Kitchen.
Since we discovered it five years ago, it’s been a staple of our lives. It’s an excellent place for breakfast either on the weekdays or for a weekend splurge.
It’s also a great spot for a quick lunch if you need a break from work. But don’t take my word for it; Korner Kitchen’s resume speaks for itself.

Short History
This relatively new addition to our community has made a big impact. You may think it’s been here for a century based on how well everything runs, but it’s only been open for a few years.
The family-owned and operated Korner Kitchen Breakfast & Lunch Eatery began in 2015 as a 70-seat breakfast & lunch diner in Kitchener. After four years of building an incredibly supportive relationship with the community, they decided it was time to expand.
In December 2019, they reopened to a newly designed space, accommodating over 180 guests and offering an expanded breakfast & lunch menu, specialty coffees & teas, mimosas, locally sourced craft beer and so much more!
Even with all this change, they never strayed from what they do best – breakfast.
Why We Love Them
There are tons of reasons to love Korner Kitchen, but I’ll make it short and sweet.
The food is really good, and there is a lot of it! The pancakes with real maple syrup are a great choice. One order of pancakes could feed two people or one very, very hungry person. Highly recommend them!
This is what gives it that down-home charm that we loved about the first location and that they’ve managed to maintain post-move.
They are a very popular restaurant; the one good thing is that if you have to wait, it’s not for long.

Menu Highlights
Their entire menu is great, but if you only have time for one meal, make it breakfast.
If you’re looking for something more creative than a heaping pile of flapjacks, then look to the Smoked Meat Hash.
This filling dish comes with two eggs, green bell peppers and plenty of smoked meat. With a side of their memorable hash browns, it’s hard to beat this plate.
If you’re really looking to fill the tank, then settle in for a fulfilling meal with the Fried Chicken Steak. This fried chicken breast is smothered in their homemade sausage gravy. This is truly an experience; just make sure you come hungry.

Where To Find Them
Korner Kitchen is conveniently located just east of our Waterloo location. There’s a good chance you may see a familiar face there on Sunday morning.
