“Go! Don’t wait! Do it now!”
– Larry Martin
Due to the nature of Larry’s role, communication is at the forefront of his priorities, as he spends much of his time understanding concerns and listening to questions.
His main concern was being put in a position where he is unable to hear others, which would cut his effectiveness and potentially make him give up what he loves doing – training managers.
On top of his fears and misconceptions about hearing aids, another worry was what if hearing technology didn’t work for him.
While it was a huge first step approaching Arnold Hearing Centres, it was one that changed Larry’s life significantly. First impressions wise, he thought the whole team was very “professional, friendly, and all the staff exude professionalism.”
Larry adds, “All of the audiologists I’ve had at Arnold have been really good at customer service. It may be in part because there has been so much improvement in technology, but my most recent audiologist was simply extraordinary.
“She was patient, competent, and really good at answering technical questions, without technical jargon. When finished, my hearing was so much improved that it was unbelievable.”
While Larry is still new to hearing aids, he couldn’t imagine life without them, as they have “changed everything.”
Larry describes his new set of hearing aids as “extraordinary” and he has no difficulty hearing others.
Since then, he received earbuds that are personalized to his ears and is hearing things that he hasn’t heard in years. From “the bell indicating the refrigerator door is open, to the turn signal in my car, to hugely increased enjoyment for the music I listen to.”
Larry encourages others in his position to “Go! Don’t wait! Do it now!”

“The professional staff are there for you and are willing to answer any questions and to work with you to make the most of your ability.”
– Donna U.
Over the years, Donna found that she was struggling more and more to hear her loved ones around her. Her family were even becoming more frustrated by constantly having to ask others to repeat themselves over and over.
One day, she worked with someone who wore hearing aids and they got talking about hearing technology and they recommended Arnold Hearing Centres.
A hearing test later, they confirmed that Donna had a hearing loss and said hearing aids could help, which she describes was a “bit of a shock.”
Initially worried, she was concerned that she would miss hearing things and get left out.
Luckily, she has a supportive network around her, where “friends, family, co-workers, etc. are more than willing to help and support.”
Donna describes that the experience was a learning curve, which the “Arnold staff and the Canadian Hearing Society provided lots of guidance and tools.”
As a hearing aid wearer for over 16 years, she has found that people often don’t realize she wears them. Donna has particularly found that “technology has improved immensely over the 16 years,” but she often has to accept that she has a hearing impairment, so she will experience some isolation from time to time.

– Natalie Carruthers
Diagnosed with a hearing loss at 3 years old, Natalie has become accustomed to wearing hearing technology and now views them as an “extension” of her body.
Over the years, Arnold Hearing Centres has been her go-to provider, as they have “always provided wonderful service throughout my 40 years of being with the clinic.”
Hearing aids have impacted her life in many ways and without them she would be “isolated, stressed, and would miss opportunities to live my life to the fullest.”

“They are absolutely lovely & completely professional.”
– Susie Weaver
While hearing loss can often be disguised for up to 10 years, it wasn’t long until Susie’s frustrations got the better of her and she started getting irritated with family members.
In particular, she found it frustrating when her parents phoned into school and “mumbled” on the phone. To Susie’s surprise, she eventually realized it was her hearing.
She was a little anxious on her first visit, as she wasn’t familiar with the staff, but she was soon welcomed by the whole team who made her feel comfortable and safe.
Susie adds, “They are absolutely lovely & completely professional.”
Looking into her hearing was the next step, however, it uncovered a surprise. At first, Susie was told by another provider that “tinnitus was permanent and hearing aids wouldn’t help me.”
But when they put her hearing aids in, it was like her ears “woke up!”
Susie describes, “I was shocked at the improvement. I didn’t know what to expect. I was so happy. And yes, I even cried a little at that appointment because I was so happy. And grateful.”
It took a while for Susie to adjust to her new hearing and she was shocked at the difference it made, as she could now hear her husband clearly.
Susie encourages others to visit Arnold Hearing Centres, adding, “I would highly recommend Arnold Hearing. In fact, I have.”

For Alex, hearing aids are a part of his daily armour and he “cannot manage without my aid.”
Alex rates his experience with Arnold Hearing Centres as 10/10.

“I can go out with confidence knowing that I can carry on a conversation and not answer incorrectly.”
– Jill Baker
Jill became frustrated over not hearing her friends, especially in conversations. While she could only disguise her hearing loss for so long, she knew that visiting an audiologist was the next step.
Naturally, she had fears about how hearing aids would look and was concerned about the “background noise of hearing aids and not tolerating them.”
When the time came for visiting Arnold Hearing Centres, her first impressions were “friendly, laid back, professional staff.”
After having her hearing aids fitted, her life has “improved greatly” now that she can hear.
Jill says, “I can go out with confidence knowing that I can carry on a conversation and not answer incorrectly.”

“I am no longer left guessing what someone is saying either one on one or in a crowd.”
– John Riley
John suffered with a hearing loss for a long time, but eventually it started to take a toll on his mental health, and he found that he was unable to engage in conversations with loved ones.
John says, “I found myself asking others to repeat themselves when others in the same room and distance from the speaker had no problem hearing what was said.
“When watching the TV by myself, other family members said the volume was very loud. Frankly, I was in denial because I did not want to admit I had a hearing problem.”
Like many others, he didn’t know much about hearing technology and was initially concerned about “them being visible to anyone else.”
Luckily, a close friend of his recommended Arnold Hearing Centres, describing how it’s a “first class service.”
It was a no brainer – he must invest in hearing technology to see how it can help him. Since then, his life has changed in many ways and he is “no longer left guessing what someone is saying either one on one or in a crowd.”
Before hearing aids, he used to be reluctant to keep asking others to repeat themselves, so he eventually just guessed at what was said. Inevitably, his guesses were not always correct.
Now, his family appreciates that John can be part of the conversation and he can enjoy the TV volume.
He encourages others to visit Arnold Hearing Centres and rates his experience as 10/10.

“Go see them. They have always gone that extra mile for me and are never too busy to listen to my concerns.”
– Jeff Hoppe
At first, Jeff was reluctant to get hearing aids, believing “it must be a temporary thing, I can’t have hearing loss. I’m too young.”
His biggest worry was “the stigma attached to hearing loss and wearing hearing aids.”
Regularly, he was asking others to repeat themselves, with many often telling him he only hears what he wants to hear.
Now, he wouldn’t be able to go without his hearing aids and has “become dependent on them.”
He says, for instance, “When they are not working, it is a major deal.” Jeff even keeps backup hearing aids for this reason.
Jeff wants others to have this same experience as him, adding, “Go see them. They have always gone that extra mile for me and are never too busy to listen to my concerns.”
