Three Methodist preachers on sabbatical arrived in Acton, ON, in 1825 and began farming on a branch of the Credit River. By the 1840s, a grist mill and tannery were added to the town, which developed into a major producer of leather goods thanks to the use of tannin from the hemlock and spruce trees in the area.
In the early 20th century, Acton was a major urban community with leather manufacturers that included Hewetson Shoe, Coronna Shoe, Superior Glove, Marzo Glove and Frank Heller and Co., earning us the nickname “Leathertown.” Today, our community is a neighbourhood of Halton Hills rather than a town with Prospect Park and Blue Springs Golf Club nearby, but our heritage is still reflected in the values and traditions of our residents.
In spite of the changes in our world and our community as we go deeper into the 21st century, family values are as strong today as they have ever been, which is why our independent, family-owned and operated hearing clinic in Guelph, ON, has fit right into the community for more than 70 years. Arnold Hearing Centre was built on the passion and commitment of our caring and experienced staff, who are dedicated to serving the needs of our hearing-impaired patients.
Our hearing care experts customize our services to meet the specific needs of each patient, doing all we can to ensure that you are satisfied with your hearing health care experience and continue to grow in confidence throughout your journey to better hearing.
