Dealing With Earwax The Right Way Is Critical
If your ears feel blocked or voices and other sounds around you seem to be muffled, then there’s a strong chance that it may be due to an overaccumulation of earwax. Left untreated, a buildup of earwax can cause a variety of negative health conditions, like temporary or sudden hearing loss, feelings of fullness in your ear, dizziness, headaches, balance issues, infections, and ear pain.

Safe In-Office Earwax Removal
Removal is usually a simple, in-office procedure that can be safely performed in a few minutes by our earwax removal experts at Arnold Hearing Centres using state-of-the-art equipment and specialized training to ensure you’re hearing better and keep your ears healthy.
The most common method we use is ear irrigation. This safe and comfortable procedure gently flushes the ear canal with a warm water solution to loosen and remove built-up wax. We may also use gentle suction with a small vacuum-like device when needed. Both methods are quick, effective, and performed by trained professionals to ensure your comfort and safety throughout the process.
A less common method makes use of a curette and suction to gently scrape and remove earwax blockage from your ear canal. With this method, we can see what we are doing and are specially trained to use this technique without causing damage to your ears.

Symptoms Of Earwax Buildup
Earwax typically clears itself from your ears when you chew or talk, but it can accumulate and cause blockage and irritation, producing symptoms like:
Earaches or itching
Persistent earaches or itching can be a sign of ear infections, allergies, or skin conditions affecting the ear canal. A professional evaluation can help determine the cause and provide relief.
Tinnitus (unexplained ringing or noise in the ear)
If you hear ringing, buzzing, or hissing sounds that others don’t, you may have tinnitus. While there’s no single cure, specialized treatments can help manage symptoms and improve your quality of life.
Conductive hearing loss
This type of hearing loss occurs when sound waves can’t pass efficiently through the ear, often due to wax buildup, fluid, or ear infections. A hearing specialist can help diagnose and treat the underlying issue.
Excessive eardrum pressure
Feeling pressure in your ears? This could be due to sinus issues, air travel, or Eustachian tube dysfunction. Proper care can help restore balance and relieve discomfort.
