Tillsonburg, ON was originally the site of a 14th century Iroquoian village containing 15 longhouses, excavated between 2001 and 2008. George Tillson and other settlers from Enfield, Massachusetts, came to the area in 1825 to set up a sawmill and forge as well as improvements to the use of Big Otter Creek water for a sawmill, planing mill, gristmill, spinning mill, pottery and a tannery, financed by the founder of the community.
True to our roots, our community has continued to make a major contribution to the Canadian economy, providing a home to several branch plants of major US-based automotive suppliers (Autoneum Canada Ltd, Guardian Industries, THK-TRW, and Adient) while adding to our diversity with service-related industries like Verspeeten Cartage, Marwood International Inc., Inovata Foods, E & E McLaughlin, J/E Bearing Ltd., Fleetwood Metal Products, and MIL-SIM-FX International Inc.
Family values have been an integral part of our community throughout its history, and they continue to define who we are. That’s why Arnold Hearing Centres, with our independent, family-owned and operated hearing clinic in Simcoe, ON, has played a critical role in the area for over 70 years.
