At Arnold Hearing Centres, Family Day has always been about more than just a date on the calendar – it's about connection, community and showing appreciation for the people who make our lives richer. This year, we were again honoured to celebrate those values with our Annual Family Day Giveaway. 

From January through February, we invited nominations from across our communities, and the response was incredible. We heard stories of resilience, kindness and unwavering dedication to others. Choosing just one winner at each of our seven locations wasn’t easy, but today, we’re thrilled to share the heartwarming stories of those we had the privilege of helping. 

Each winner received brand-new hearing aids—Starkey Edge AI 24s or Bernafon Encanta 400s— plus a complete Premier Plus Treatment Plan from our team. A huge thank you to our amazing partners at Starkey and Bernafon for making this possible! 

Let’s introduce you to our 2025 Family Day winners: 

Elmira – Scott 

Sometimes, life’s basic necessities compete with each other, and hearing health can get pushed aside. Scott had been struggling to replace his old hearing aids, but between rising costs and a limited income, it just wasn’t possible.  

Thanks to this giveaway, Scott now has the technology he needs to reconnect fully with his world.

Guelph – Elizabeth 

At 88 years young, Elizabeth lives independently in an assisted living apartment, priding herself on her self-sufficiency. But hearing loss had been slowly pulling her away from the conversations and moments she loves. Financially, hearing aids were out of reach – until now.  

We’re so happy to help Elizabeth hear clearly again and enjoy the vibrant life she’s worked so hard to maintain. 

Kitchener (Frederick Mall) – Margaret 

Family comes in many forms, and sometimes the most touching stories come from unexpected places. Margaret was nominated by her ex-husband, who wanted her to be able to fully hear the sounds of their first grandchild’s laughter.  

With her new hearing aids, Margaret won’t miss a single precious moment, and we’re honoured to have played a part in that beautiful gift. 

Waterloo – Merrie 

Merrie is a shining example of selflessness. A mom to three boys—one with autism—she works tirelessly as a personal support worker, dedicating her life to helping others despite her own health struggles. Hearing loss was just another challenge on a long list she faced without complaint.  

We're thrilled to support Merrie with the hearing help she deserves, allowing her to focus on what she does best: caring for her family and her community. 

New Hamburg – Mary Jane 

Nominated by her daughter, Mary Jane is the heart of her family. She spends her days caring for others, particularly her husband, who faces health challenges of his own. Mary Jane had long put her own hearing needs aside for the sake of those around her.  

Today, with the help of her new hearing aids, she can once again fully participate in the conversations and moments she’s given so much to support. 

Simcoe – Judy 

When Judy and her husband signed up to act in a local charity play, they had no idea that hearing difficulties would threaten to dampen the experience. Missing cues and struggling to follow dialogue became real hurdles.  

Thanks to this giveaway, Judy now has the hearing clarity she needs not just for the stage but for all the small, meaningful moments in her daily life.
